René R. Kamber, Bailli Délégué

Welcome on the web site
of Switzerland Bailliage

Chères Dames de la Chaîne, chers Confrères dear friends and future members of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs

The history of the association begins in 1248, when King "Louis IX" - called Saint Louis - got the authorization to found the Guild of the roasters of geese - the "ayeurs".

The Royal recognition was conferred to them in 1610 with the presentation of the professional emblem of the "Roaster". In 1789, during the French Revolution, this guild as well as all the others, was disbanded. On Easter 1950, in Paris, the association was reconstituted and given the name of "La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs".

With 760 years of existence, the "Chaîne des Rôtisseurs" is accordingly the most ancient gastronomic association, active in 83 countries with 25'000 members. Switzerland is in third position with more than 1'800 members.

If you appreciate the high level gastronomy and the culture of the table and the kitchen, you are welcome in our Association. As a first step you shall participate as a guest to one of the 200 events organized by the regional Swiss Baillages in order to become later an associate.

Your adhesion to the "Chaîne des Rôtisseurs" opens you the road to participate in the numerous international meetings (Chapitres). Come and enjoy the kitchen of highest level and the excellent service of our professionals together with our associates and you exchange your points of view in a convivial atmosphere among like-minded people.

The Bailliage National of Switzerland will be pleased to welcome you in one of our 20 Bailliages.

Vive la Chaîne!
